What would be the one lesson you would share from 2024 based on your professional activities?

Recruitment is becoming automated with the use of Ai. It will eventually become hiring manager self serve. To remain relevant it must add strategic value by transforming to Talent Advisory and improve business partnering.

What do you see as the biggest challenge for 2025?

Understanding what strategic value is and going through the change management to transform. Then having the influencing and change management skills to bring this about and partner with the business.

What is your opinion on AI? Is it taking away from recruiters' jobs? Where can you add value in recruitment selection?

Yes, Ai will in over 2-4 years significantly reduce and automate many tasks like preparation of job briefs and matching candidates and short listing. We must add strategic value. Like facilitating internal mobility and using creative ways of optimizing the workforce.

What skills will be most important for HR professionals in the future?

Strategic partnering and influencing. Using technology to inform the business and strategic direction.

What was the motivation or goal that started you on this path?

Sustainability of the recruitment industry.

What advice would you give to recruitment teams?

First and most importantly ensure your Recruitment Function is aligned to your organisation business goals. This ensures a tangible contribution to the business. The workshop on Aligned to Achieve will demonstrate how you can do this. In addition you should provide regular reports to the business with lead and lag metrics showing how your function is assisting the business achieve its goals.

What skills do you think are needed to not only keep up with (but also in a way lead) the rapid changes brought about by digitalisation and AI?

Curiosity I think is key explore how tech can assist the business. Then understand its Impact so Analytical Skills. Lastly, Influencing Skills to be able to get your points across and partner with the business If you have these it will help the business and ensure you get both the investment and sponsorship needed. We do have methods of measuring this in teams and individuals.

We will use the Aligned to Achieve cards and board to create alignment from the Recruitment Function to the business goals. We will have 5-6 unique tables where this exercise will demonstrate how your function can make a tangible difference to the business.
