What should recruiters focus on in 2024?
This really depends on the environment. In a slow-growth environment, every company has a different approach. But continuing to deliver value is certainly a good thing to do. I assume many companies are cautious about opening any new positions, so fast and very high-quality delivery is important.
What is your opinion on AI? Is it taking away from recruiters' jobs? Where can you add value in recruitment selection?
AI is a technology that can help solve problems and deliver value differently – or with the help of AI, you might solve problems you could not before. So, it's also an opportunity. Assuming that with AI you can increase the productivity of people, fewer recruiters will be needed for the same amount of openings, and recruiters will focus more on verifying soft skills.
What economic outlook do you see for 2024? What are your expectations for the intellectual labour market?
I expect the full year of 2024 to be slow. Perhaps 2025 will be more positive, but it's hard to tell. The major trends remain the same – aging population, shrinking labor market – so the workforce will still be needed, but the tightness of the labor market is less intense than it was in 2021-22.
